Cris Howell:
My dream is to get dancers from the Central Valley to come together yearly under one roof to share their passions, aspirations and spirit through the Language of Dance. My intent is to educate, inspire and promote dance as a cultural and social part of life.
To date, the annual planning of this event has brought many people together from different socio, economic and cultural backgrounds, all working together towards making this event a successful one.
The premier event (2006) brought 17 groups of dancers of varied styles and levels, singers and musicians, together in Unity, sharing with each other information on techniques, dance schools, costuming, instruction and more.
This year, I have a list of 24 groups and it promises to be an equally successful event as more and more dance groups discover and support each other in the spirit of dance.
I know that I am just one person but I do have a dream and will continue to work to see this dream continue to come true. I believe in positive thinking, working hard and helping each other by sharing our talents with one another.
With this in mind, I hope that we, the citizens of the Central Valley, can show the world that we can….
Celebrate Unity and Diversity thru the Language of Dance
After all, "Dance, Like Music, Knows No Barriers" whether it be economic, social, cultural or political barriers.
For the Love of Dance, Cris |
