Founder Biography

"Dance was and is my first love". Cris' involvement in dance began in 1973 with the Philippine Barangay Society of Nigeria (PBSN). Her interest in various styles of dance led her to create this unique event. There has never been one similar of this kind in the Central Valley. Her hope is that this function might continue on annually while awakening the desire in each person to dance, regardless of age, culture, race or socio-economic background.

Dance is a language that transcends all barriers. One can communicate and learn a lot thru dance, learn of distant places, cultures, religions, environment, music, history, stories and meet new friends.

“My  dream  is  to  unite  people  together  while

Celebrating  Unity  and  Diversity  thru  Dance”

Today, Cris continues her work in the community by teaching dance to children in Grades 1 thru 6 in over five Fresno Elementary schools, directs and choreographs dances for many public and private performances, while providing private dance and fitness programs at her studio in Fresno. She also teaches college courses in the Architectural and Visual Communication Fields.

For the Love of Dance,

Cris Mendoza-Howell
