Ananka Dance Company

Who we are:

ANANKA DANCE COMPANY specializes in traditional dances of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, as well as modern Egyptian dance, improvisional cabaret style dance, and group numbers...with direction and original choreography by Ely Buffin, whose peers have repeatedly voted her “ Most Versatile Dancer ”.

Always a crowd-pleaser, the  company has performed in such diverse venues as dance festivals, renaissance fairs, for charitable organizations, concerts, and more. Whether dancing as a large troupe or as trios, duets or soloists, the ANANKA DANCE COMPANY provides colorful, exciting and original performances suitable for audiences of all ages.

Through the years, the ANANKA DANCE COMPANY has danced at events throughout California as well as holding their own dance events in the Fresno area. In 1997, the troupe was awarded the “Troupe of the year” at the Belly Dancer of the year pageant. That year also saw them dancing in the “Belly Dance of the Universe” competition...placing as second runner-up in the troupe category.

Deemed the perfect exercise for women of all sizes, ages, ethnic backgrounds (and hair color), traditional Belly Dance embraces the contribution of every individual’s life experiences...making all dancers unique in their interpretation of dance.
