Central Valley Dance is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to offer charitable, cultural and educational programs to celebrate unity and diversity through
the language of dance. Central Valley Dance is preparing to present its 4th Annual Festival and we would like to include YOU.
The goal for 2009 is to include the community by conducting "A Picture and a 100 Words" Art/Writing contest for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Combining
these forms of art with a dance experience for our children, we hope to instill in their hearts a desire to dance. Central Valley Dance believes that dance enhances
wellness, education, creativity, problem solving and art, thus sharpening both the mind and body of the student throughout their lives.
Central Valley Dance is looking for 10 schools to participate. The 5th-8th graders will be asked to produce an art piece (9x12) with an accompanying 100
words on the subject of their piece. A total of thirty students per school will be judged. Each school shall submit a total of three art pieces and accompanying essay to represent
their school. These pieces will be displayed at the Fresno Memorial Auditorium on Nov. 7th. A panel of judges will be shown all submitted entries. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd best pieces shall
be announced and students shall be awarded certificates for their creativity while their respective schools shall be awarded gifts for their efforts in bringing the arts to their
students.
